We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Adnanced Nurse Practitioner with strong clinical and leadership skills who is passionate about providing high quality care and competent in managing chronic diseases, minor illnesses and telephone consultations. The successful Advanced Nurse Practitioner will be welcomed into our large primary care team of 13 Doctors, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 HCA’s, 2 Pharmacists and 16,000 patients and instantly become a valued member of staff.

Essential requirements:

  • Nurse Practitioner qualification
  • Proven track record in primary care or Urgent Care Centre
  • Independent Nurse prescribing qualification
  • Able to work autonomously

Job Specification

  • Job title: Advanced Nurse Practitioner
  • Main purpose of post: An autonomous practitioner working independently of an in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within primary care initiating direct referrals as appropriate

Qualifications Required:

  • BSC degree
  • RGN / RN
  • Extended and Supplementary Nurse Prescriber
  • Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice
  • Women’s health including cytology (ENB 901 / 8103)
  • ENB 998 / Mentorship or equivalent teaching experience / qualification

How Identified: NMC registration check, Professional portfolio.

Special Knowledge / Experience Competences Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years NP experience
  • Telephone triage
  • Able to manage acute illnesses, long term conditions and minor ailments
  • Refer patients independently as appropriate
  • Arrange appropriate investigations
  • Interprets a range of diagnostic tests and routine clinical procedures
  • Studies experience within the clinical field
  • Demonstrate the application of evidence based practice
  • Able to demonstrate a depth and breadth of current issues and policies within the NHS and have the ability to translate into practice
  • Experience in leadership role and change management
  • Autonomous practitioner working independently and in conjunction with other healthcare professionals
  • High level of clinical skills and competency relevant to the role
  • Understanding and experience of interagency working and adult / child protection
  • Evidence of teaching / mentoring students / groups
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Experience of Clinical Governance and risk assessment
  • Experience in operating a recall system in general practice
