Long term steroid use
You need to carry an NHS Steroid Emergency Card if you are taking long-term steroid treatment.
It is important that any healthcare professional who treats you knows you are on long-term steroids.
The red steroid emergency card warns healthcare professionals that you're taking steroids in case you need emergency treatment.
- Download a steroid alert card and keep this on your phone to show when necessary.
- Alternatively, come to the surgery/chemist where we can give you a physical copy of the card.
